A.L.A.R.M. - A Laptop A/C Removal Monitor v1.01     Deutsche Website

A.L.A.R.M. is a free open source (GPL) utility for Windows XP and later. It silently sits in your system tray until you lock your workstation. If now somebody removes the A/C power connection to steal your laptop, A.L.A.R.M. will play a loud sound from your Laptop speakers until power is back again or you have unlocked your workstation.
Of course, this is little protection from theft, but better than nothing if you have to leave your laptop or portable alone for a moment.

Uwe Dauernheim wrote an AutoHotkey version of A.L.A.R.M. that differs slightly in features and usage. You can download a full package including sound file and executable here and the script here. For information about AutoHotkey, consult the AutoHotkey homepage.

Features

Installation

Recommended: Download the installer, run it and follow the dialog.
If you don't want to use the installer, download & extract alarm101-bin.zip to a directory of your choice and run alarm.exe. The installer includes the recommended A.L.A.R.M. sound, a very high pitched aggressive siren, but you can choose any sound file you like from within the configuration dialog.

Future Ideas

Uninstall/Remove A.L.A.R.M.

Use the uninstaller from your install directory or from the software management area. If you did not use the installer, delete the A.L.A.R.M. directory and the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WiredWings\ALARM to completely remove the program.

Upgrade

Just overwrite your old installation, that's it!
